Prior to joining M2 Resources, Gerard was with Kaouat Iron Limited and prior to that, he headed the Pamodzi Resources Investment Fund, where he founded Rand Uranium. He also served as director of business development at Rand Merchant Bank, where he spearheaded a number of South Africa's largest Black Economic Empowerment transactions. He also served as Head of Investment Banking (Resources) at BoE Merchant Bank and as Head of Equities Research at BoE Securities where he was twice rated South Africa's top gold analyst. Gerard spent 22 years in Anglo American's Gold Division, as surveyor and as mineral economist.
Prior to joining M2 Resources, Marius was Senior Vice President business development at Sibanye Gold where he was intimately involved in shaping Sibanye. Prior to joining Sibanye he was the Chief Executive Officer of Village Main Reef Limited, then the oldest listed gold mining company on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, with three operating gold mines as well as the largest antimony mine outside of China. Marius was Managing Director of the Macquarie mining and resources team in South Africa prior to joining Village. He also spent 7 years with the Anglo American plc group as Senior Vice President Corporate Finance. He also had 8 years of Investment Banking exposure, both at HSBC where he headed up the South African Mining Business and at SG Hambros.
Prior to joining M2 Resources, Kobus was Business Development Manager at SunEdison where he managed the Strategy for Distributed Generation in Africa. Prior to SunEdison, Kobus was Commercial Manager and Investor Relations Officer at JSE Listed Optimum Coal, having been part of the management buy-out of Optimum Colliery from BHP Billiton and its subsequent IPO. Prior to joining Optimum Coal Kobus was the head of SSA Metals and Mining in HSBC Global Investment Banking. Kobus also worked in the Project Finance team of Standard Corporate and Investment Bank with focus on Resources and Infrastructure and in the Energy and Mining Division of PWC. Kobus also worked for Impala Platinum as Plant Metallurgist.
Prior to joining M2 Resources, Nape worked as Chief Inspector of Mines at DME and as former Director for Mine Surveying for South Africa. Nape also had various roles with Uramin, including DG for Central African Republic and GM Mining and New Business in South Africa. He also worked at Western Deep Levels as Mine Surveyor. Nape has served on various mining boards including Uramin, Central Rand Gold, the Mine Qualification Authority (Chair) and Mine Health and Safety Council. Nape also chaired the ETQA committee, SIMRAC and served on the SGB. He chaired the HIV and AIDS committee in the mining Industry and served on the IAEA. Nape was involved in drafting various Acts and regulations including the MPRDA and the Mine Health and Safety Act. He was co-author of a book Uramin, A Team Enriched, How to build a Junior Uranium Mining Company.
Prior to joining M2Resources, Pieter was Technical Director at Kaouat Iron Limited and also worked for Pamodzi Resources Fund as Valuator and dealmaker. Pieter also had a successful career in Investment banking as Senior Transactor with Rand Merchant Bank and as Associate Director, Investment banking for BoE. During his time in investment banking, Pieter worked on a number of ground breaking transactions in the Mining Industry. Prior to working in Investment banking, Pieter worked as a rated gold analyst at which time he built and maintained models for all listed South African and the Major International Gold Companies. Prior to his career as an analyst, Pieter was Mineral Resources Manager and Chief Surveyor at Anglo American's Western Deep Levels Mine as well as Survey Officer with Freddies Gold Mine.
Prior to joining M2 Resources, Ruan worked as Research Associate at KCS Resources, a boutique advisory firm focusing on mining investments. Prior to that he worked as Stockbroker with PSG Konsult, Portfolio Management, Hermanus. Ruan has also worked as Freelance Journalist and Author. He was editor of Derby Day, A History of South African Schoolboy Rugby, and editor of Humourology, an investigation into the religious functions of humour, for which he received a Loerie award. Ruan is currently writing his thesis toward a MSc in Mining Engineering (Mineral Economics) at the University of the Witwatersrand.
